HSB Living Lab is one of the winners disseminating innovations and practices for sustainable cities globally. In the 4th edition of the contest “Green Building & City Solutions Awards 2016” were competing buildings and districts from all over the world that contribute to combating climate change. The awards were announced during the international conference on climate COP22 in Marrakech, on November 14th. HSB Living Lab received the third prize in the category of Smart Building. The initiative for participation to the contest was taken by Johanneberg Science Park together with Chalmers University of Technology and EIT Climate-KIC BTA.

HSB Living Lab is a research arena where we jointly develop new ways to build and shape the future of housing. New approaches and innovations are enable by the width partners’ expertise involved in the project. The research results from this project will provide us with new knowledge on how to build future houses.

“We are proud about this award and want to show HSB Living Lab as a good example where cooperation between partners is the success factor. The fact that HSB Living Lab got an international attention during one of the most important climate conferences gives the opportunity for more rapid global spreading of the smart solutions developed within the project. This award inspires us to continue developing collaboration projects for a more sustainable future“, says Maria Ådahl, Director of Open Arena Urban Development at Johanneberg Science Park.

Green Building & City Solutions Awards is an international contest organised by Construction21 network. Every year, buildings and eco-districts that contribute to the fight against climate change are rewarded.

This year’s contest was the fourth edition of 129 candidates all over the world aiming to promote a sustainable future. To determine the winners, 57 experts were mobilised during the national phase of the contest, then during the international phase. Thousands of professionals also voted online.

This is the second time that HSB Living Lab is acknowledged internationally. In 2014, HSB Living Lab was one of the six winners at IASP Inspiring Solutions. An initiative which promotes knowledge sharing and acknowledges inspiring projects developed by science parks and areas of innovation.
